Welcome to the BBS!!

Anyway as for running with cats, the only issue is MOT time. I've been reasurred that putting on the centre cat will be enough, as long as the car has been warmed up.

As for the Police, it really depends whether they are doing road side checks or not. If you get pulled over, you'll get a slap on the wrists, then told to take it down the local MOT station.

You will have time to right the 'problem'.

Personaly I haven't worried about it, but if it happens I'll deal with it then!!

Welcome to the board....

I'm not sure you can "legally" run w/o a Cat on a car registered after 1 Jan 1992.

I have a cat for mine. Its kept nice n safe somewhere where it won't wear out thats for sure

How much emphasis is placed on cat free exhaust tracing by the Police I really couldn't comment upon.

Although I would struggle if I got stopped at roadside emissions testing

As for the question of the cats on Rally cars yes they do run them and they are a very special unit on the WRC cars and on the clubman cars they are mostly standard. They don't last long either.

Question

I have been reading this bulletin board for a few months now and I have read about some of you running with full stainlees steel exhaust systems.

As I understand all cars registered on or after the 1st of January 1992 must by law have a catalyst fitted. Do the Police not bother with such activities? Also if all cars must now be fitted with catalysts then how come the rally cars you see travelling between stages have no catalyst (they make one hell of a racket so I am presuming they don't have one). Do rally cars have some kind of exemption to run without a catalyst. I would be interested in obtaining one so that I too can run a catless exhaust system and be legal at the same time.

P.S. This is my first post on the bulletin board.
