ITG Airfilters - Cleaning ??
#1
I have a MY98 Terzo with 21,000 miles. When I had done about 10,000 miles I had an ITG airfilter and Scoobysport BB fitted..
I have never cleaned this air filter and my dealer certainly hasn't.. nor have they replaced it..
Does anyone know how often these should be cleaned and how do you clean them???? or should you replace them??
I am probably being paranoid, but I sense that my car isn't boosting as strongly as it used to in 2nd and 3rd (about 3500rpm).. Could this be due to the airfilter??? Please Help...
Thanks
Mark

Hi Mark
11,000 miles is very little use for any filter. The ITG has 5 times the dust load up ability of the standard paper filter and these are scheduled for replacement every 15,000.
The filter should last for 30,000 miles, at which time it should be replaced. Do not clean it and oil it, as you may damage you MAF sensor. The ITG is coated in a polymer that must be heated to over 110 degC when applied. You cannot replicate this process at home.
