Cool

Hi All.
Recently my MY94 WRX started suffering from ECU error number 24, indicating a problem with the 'Idle air control solenoid'. The idle control is very erratic, often idling at over 2000rpm, and surging wildly.
Does anyone know how to clean/service this component?
Any help appreciated.
Thanks,
dave

Dave
I had the same problem not long ago.
I seem to remember that I cleared it with Carburetor cleaner - Pete at Scooby sport will tell you how!
I removed the air intake hose - kept the engine revving and then sprayed the whole can in - whilst revving the engine - it will stall if you don't.
Cheers
Yosser

Thanks Yosser.
I shall give that a go.
Which pipe is the air intake hose? Is that the larger (3/4 inch?) pipe at the rear of the idle control valve?
Thanks

Oh, perhaps you mean spray the carb cleaner into the air filter input (or perhaps after the air filter)?
I'm pretty much out of ideas, so I'll try any decent suggestions!

Talking

The pipe is the one from the Air Filter which goes over to the right hand side in the middle.
Remove it at this end not the filter end.
Can't be more specific - really need a picture so I can show you.
It worked for me..
