Hi, Ive heard a lot of problems come from using optimax (or anything lesser!) because it has a lower octane than japanese fuel, what is the best option to solve this as i dont want toblow my car up!

I havent got my scooby yet, but done alot of talking about this.
What ive found out is, you need optimax and octane booster for it to be ok as it is, or the car needs to have the ECU changed (scoobyecu) to run the uk fuel, but still use optimax.
Also could be a v good idea to get a knock sensor thingy, cannot remember the exact name, but it detects knock so you know when to back off.
If yours is a MY96 or earlyer then you can get a scoobyecu (if they still make it) for about £100, but i think the newer models cost alot more, but not sure.
anyway, hope this helps.

The knock detecting device you are talking about is available from BR DEVELOPMENTS and is called a knocklink
The scoobyecu is available from either David Wallis or Pavlo. This will enable you to run safely on optimax due to modified fuel/ignition maps but will also give more h.p as the boost map is also modified

If the car is post'96 then I doubt it, best you e-mail one of them for a definite answer
