The gearchange buzz at 3-4000 rpm is almost certainly the bulkhead clutch pipe vibration - check archives - post from CLS on 16 Sept and fix from Steve Lawson

My clutch pedal varies in pressure needed to push it down. Sometimes it appears normal then it seems to go down real easy and then after a while stiffens up again. There is not much diference but it is noticable. Anyone else have the same thing happen?
Last night I also noticed a noise from under the car, sounded like it was under the front passenger seat. A high pitched vibe almost like someone blowing over a bottle but higher pitch. It happens between 2700-3000rpm so is quite brief? I'm lost and starting to lose faith in my car. The pedal box needs adjusting as well but nobody seems to be able to do it, it buzzes when I change gear between 3 and 4000. (Not heat sheilds)

Just been out on a test run.
it's better but still there can almost feel it through the clutch pedal.
Worst of all I've just come back with a huge nail stuck in my tyre, it's hanging out about 2".
I'll have to see if I can have it repaired tomorrow - a bit too close to the tyre wall though I think.
(But, I know a man who has a full set - NEW WITH WHEELS!!!)

SCOTTY - My car has exactly the same clutch problem. Sometimes the clutch in my car is very light and sometimes it takes more pressure to push it down. At about 2000 miles my clutch had another problem where it would click and not feel smoth as I slowly let it out. The clicking problem is caused by the clutch mechanism inside the car needing to be lubricated. I have no idea what is causing the clutch pedal to sometimes require more effort to push it down but something I have noticed is that if it is like that and I give in some stick (i.e 6000 rpm gear changes) it seems to sort it out for a while...
My car is going in for it's 6 month service tomorrow so I will ask them if they have any ideas (I bet they just say "They all do that sir...")
