Fuel Mixtures and Black Exhausts
#1
Wonder what colour other Scoobie owner's exhausts burn. Both my old 99 Turbo and my P1 burn black black black, which is not right methinx. Should be lovely grey. This is not just after manic blasts where you'd expect rich mixture. I've done a couple of gentle hours on the motorway and it still looks rich. Local dealers just look perplexed and murmur about it all been set in the electronics, and nothing they can do. Anyone know someone who can check/modify these things? Perhaps the prodrive bods in the group?

Hi...
You might want to try doing a search on this as there has been plenty discussed on it.
A rich mixture is perfectly normal on the Scoob. If you are concerned, then you can get a lambda link which will tell you how rich/lean you're running.
If you want to change it, then an air-fuel controller can be used. Or a mappable ECU such as a link.
If you don't want the above for whatever reason (warranty?), it might help if you reset your ECU and allow it to re-learn parameters itself.
