Question

Further, where can you buy it and is it also available for the MY98 and how much
does it cost?
Where are the differences in the intercooler piping from MY98 to MY99?
greetings and thanks for any comments

Cool

Erm, the intercooler piping is just 2 bits of hose, one along side and one below the IC. Youre probably best off just getting a SAMCO intercooler hose set - i dont think Prodrive will sell you it seperately (but i could be wrong!).

The reason, i presume, for doing it is just as a safety measure when the PPP ECU runs a higher boost than standard. In fact, its the only bit of the PPP left on my UK MY99!!!!

Speak to Jim at Cheam Motors Subaru for hoses etc

jimchilds.parts@virginnet.co.uk

and tell him i sent you!

Sunil

Sunil, If memory serves me correctly when my old head was last under the bonnet, the crappy plastic 'Y' pipe is changed for a cast metal one with a short Samco linking pipe. I did read that this bit helped a tadge in reducing lag, but you can't believe everything you read (even on here)

Cool

Here in Switzerland the Samco hoses are a well known part for tuning Scoobys.

Why:

1. When watching at the crap standard plastic pipes that have creases you can simply imagine that this restircts the airflow. Even with higher boost the standard hoses blow themself up. Higher air flow means better engine/turbo response and with high boost also more power/torque.

2. The standard parts can split or melt under high pressure and then goodbye turbo...

=> Buy a kit that consists of turbo-intercooler pipe and intercooler-throttle body pipe.

In my opinion it isn't necessary to buy a alloy/metal pipe, I think the Samco hoses (good up to 5bar of boost) are enough and offer the same airflow as the alloy/metal pipe.
