I just purchased a STi 2 555, and was wondering whether or not the block was closed? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

On the engine, it has the EJ20GDW5PE. I think it might be the original. Is there a way to tell for sure without taking off the heads?

yes mate, take a look at the engine just above the oil filter and check out the engine casing. If it has a grid finish on it (square grid pattern) then it is CDB... If it is smooth then it ODB.

I just took a look at the engine and didnt see a grid pattern. I guess this means that it is an open deck. Thanks for the help.
