Induction roar vs £
I am about to fit a scoobysport back box and downpipe to new P1. I want a bit more acceleration grunt(deep, throaty- less whislte!). Will a few holes in the airbox do for the moment until I can afford the full blitz or graham goode kit?
You have a new P1, scoobysport backbox, ss downpipe and you can't afford a cone filter! wow, that's bad news... you won't be able to afford to put much fuel in the car at the moment then... that must be annoying.
K+N may do a kit that would cost ~£60... less than two tanks of petrol... that's a better option than destroying your factory airbox just for a different sound. Maybe you could consider removing the resonator box from the inner wing, this should help free up the airflow a bit at the expense of a bit more noise... shame that!

Hi Richard,
I removed the resonator box from the inner wing on mine (MY99 uk spec) took about an hour all in. Had to remove inner wheel arch liner, then undo the bolts that hold it on one at the top and one behind the front bumper(this one is a bit tricky)also u have to remove the little bar which goes between inner wing and bumper. Then take out the resonator(bloody great plastic thing), re-fit the bar to the inside of bumper, inner wheel arch liner and it's done also forgot to mention u have to remove n/s front wheel.
If u do it u should really fit a high flow panel filter like itg or k&n.
It should give the same sort of performance as an induction kit but without too much noise, you do get some nice dump valve sound on lift off though
.
It seems to rev more freely higher up in the rev range, also it can't knacker your maf sensor because the airbox is still in place(no vibrations).
Worth doing imho
Regards
