Downpipe wrecked my engine!

No, it hasn't 
But my question is - Can it happen? What (if anything) could go wrong as a result of fitting a downpipe?
I am really tempted to get one but worried about the warranty (UK MY00). I know some dealers are more "understanding" than others but even the most understanding won't fix the problem if it was caused by the DP.
Have you ever had or heard of any DP-related problems?
Any info / views / advice would be very much appreciated.

Had the same thought , also have MY00 but after fitting all your worries will go with the increase in performance and the great sound.
Seriously had my downpipe fitted by a main dealer in the U.K and they were very helpfull.
Will not name them on line but if you e-mail me I will give you details.
