I think to get the bang/pop and the odd flame you probably need the following.............................full decatted exhaust.........dump valve................and running slightly rich with your fuel...............at least thats how I get my own fireworks!!!!

My MY00, with Forge VTA, Magnex straight thru centre & back box, but original d/pipe w/cat. On Optimax, foot down to 3000, lift off throttle...Woosh....bang. Almost every time, every gear but first. Not sure about flame though.

You need - full decat, usually a VTA dump valve of some description, a hot exhaust system, and then it's down to luck. Some people have flames without the dump valve, some don't even with all of the above.
Most systems will pop and bang a little - you can hear mine doing that, and it's still got the OEM dumpvalve and a sports cat.

Apparently I was getting big flames at oulton park last Saturday when heel and toe braking. I guess the fuel pump in by blipping the throttle has to go somewhere, and the exhaust would be very hot in those circumstances

full decat, heatwrapped downpipe, VTA dump valve and an induction kit helps.
moderate acceleration to 3.5k and lift off in third - BANG!
Helps to wind nearside rear window and go through a tunnel

if you blip the the throttle in second or third, up to just over 3k and then let the revs progressively drop it will usually do it, especially if you then gently feather the accelerator. You can get fockoff huge bangs, sounds like a firework going off. Probly no flames tho knowing my luck.
I'll have to get the camcorder out tomorrow
