Thinking of buying my 1st Impreza and have kind of lines up a MY2000 car with 47K miles on.

Car seems fine apart from the starter motor appearing slow to turn the engine over.

Is this the norm or as I suspect is the motor on the way out?

If the later whats the cost for a replacement?

cheers Fin

yep, agree, sounds more likely to be a problem with the battery rather than the starter motor, which are rare to fail. tend to find a lot of scoobs if left standing for a while have "turnover" problems and may simply need the battery recharging fully.

Same problem with mine, 3 years is about the life of a battery. Changed mine and it was SO much better!

Cold start knocking from front of engine... possible cam belt tensioner fault, pretty common on the MY99/00
