Question

this maybe something or nothing but there are 2 things that I've noticed about my car (MY00) that's beginning to bug me.
1. when I change gear there is a strange resonance coming from the engine bay, at first I thought I wasn't lifting off enough but thats not it and its really annoying me now 'cos I know its there!
2. at constant revs (about 2600 - 3200 rpm) the car seems jerky or hesitant, accelerate and it goes go steady again and it comes back

Hopefully someone out there knows what this is as it's got me scratching my head
Cheers
Iain.

Question

Iain,

Is the hesitancy just after you have started driving as the car is warming up?

I get this on my MY00 - goes after car has fully warmed up.

On my old MY97 the solenoid used to stick periodically any cause similar problems - a quick clean fixed it.

Rich.

Unhappy

Hi Rich
no it doesn't seem to be limited to warming up although it is worse then. I don't think its the fuel either as I only use garages where I've never had a problem before and I use both sul and nul at times
Did you decide on which wheel to get in the end?
Cheers
Iain

I had hesitancy on a MY99 - dealer cleaned injectors at 12k service (& reset ECU), all fine since.

Cool

Ian,

The resonance you refer to seems to be a common problem.

My car does it MY99, as do many others. Some diagnosi (SP?) are:-

Clutch release baring (changed to no effect)
Broken/damaged clutch plate damper springs
vibrating clutch pipework

Do a search on clutch noise/vibration/problems and see what comes up.

Cheers

D

Cool

Hi Iain,

Not yet - been spending too much time (+ money ) on other mods.

It's getting faster by the day

Rich.

Ps. Still favorites are those ST2's in Anthracite.
