Red Lights on a Knock Link
#1
Hi all, a bit long winded..... but the red lights on my knocklink seem to be appearing a little too often for my liking, I've got a P1 with HKS FMIC, Plugs, Air Filter, tek map with water injection running 1.45 boost, make sure that I only use optimax but am now becoming concerned, any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks

Drive very gently and get it re-mapped asap. Knocklink rarely lies. It could be a huge number of things but you mapper will be able to see what is going on. I had a similar thing which turned out to be oil contamination in the IC, which was reducing the RON of the fuel causing knock. I've ended up with a more conservative map, with less advance. But it keeps the amber and red lights quiet.

Do an ECU reset. You may find your MAF is shagged and running lean. After reset, if the idle is crap and it tries to stall, it may be the MAF. See the current thread on Gen Technical about idle.

Why would you want it on the gearbox?
The chance of picking up det frequency from there would be pretty slim I would have thought. Not sure what actual Hz frequency det is, but you may even start picking up gearbox harmonics if you put it there?
The agreed place to put it, is on the block over cyl no 3 (or might be 4, cant rememeber)
