woke this morning to find a nice cheque for 2k so now its time to give my scooby those engine mods, firstly the car has the following mods done,
the car is a 93, wrx import:
Hks full exhaust system including de-cat and downpipe.
Forge ReCirc DumpValve
MRT Inlet Plenum Chamber
The car has full Goodridge uprated braided brake hoses.
Group N Discs
Recently fitted Pagid Fast Road Pads (front and back)
Rear AntiRoll Bar with uprated drop links.
Bumpsteer Mod has been carried out with Full geometry setup
Helix Gp N Clutch
Anti Lift Kit has been fitted
Brake support Bracket also fitted
All 4 Coil Packs were changed 6 months ago
All Sensors have been changed(cam, crank, MAF, Lambda, Throttle)
4 HKS Iridium Plugs
the current bhp figure is, 244bhp with 271 torque, when it put on the rollowing road. Now im looking to get the car to a good 300bhp as above that u have to start changing injectors etc, and as im a student wanna try and not spend all my money on the car. so what i thought of doing was the following:
Hks Induction kit (ordered)
scooby ecu, + remap of current ecu
sti intercooler
not sure if this will take me to 300bhp.. so if you could give me advice on what other mods I will have to do to get my scobby to 300bhp.

Take it all back to standard, sell all the bits and make a grand or so, sell the car for £5k. Cash your £2k cheque.
You now have about £8k which you can get an early STi with a full decat. Fill it with octane booster, reset the ECU and hey presto! You also have a better base for more power.
Im being serious too.

With the mods you are stating and purchasing I think you will be close to the 290-300hp mark with approx 16psi of boost. You may need to change the fuel pump to cope though and possibly a newer model map sensor. Also Water injection may also help

From the power/torque figures, it sounds like you are getting some serious overboost, as that's a lot of torque for not much power.
The limit of the standard MAP sensor is about 17.2psi, which means a usable boost range of around 16psi. This is enough for 300hp with the right mods, namely a decent intercooler and possibly some headers (keep the original turbo, it's good for 340hp without much trouble).
The thing that will stop you is the injectors. They are too small to reliable flow enough fuel for 300hp. You might squeeze 300hp out of them by raising the fuel pressure, but if you want to go onto mid 300s then 550 injectors are probably the way forward.
If you want to go above 16psi without changing the MAP sensor, you will need a fuel cut defender and some other boost contoller, like a Dawes Device (simple) or fancy electronic one.
If you are on tight budget, I would stick with standard headers, and turbo, fit either a FMIC, or good topmount, get some 550 injectors or 440s with increased fuel pressure.
It's not always that straight forward, but it's the sort of direction you should look at going in.

Weird figures.
My MY93 makes 273bhp and 236lb/ft with Scoobysport exhaust, HKS SPF induction kit and ScoobyECU running 15.5psi. It made 249bhp/212lbft (IIRC) with the standard ECU/boost.
What boost are you running?

Thats what i was just about to ask?? You seem to have a high torque figure in relation to your HP.
Is this unusual or is it common.
I have 257bhp and 240lbft so completely opposite to you.

which is why I said
It's probably a boost spike, which is followed by relatively low held boost.

i brought the car with all the mods, like it and the guy had the car running at 11psi, it seems pretty quick but im also a bit confused y there is such a high torque figure, anyway due to some pikie garage breaking/loosing my boost controller i have ordered a Dawes Devices Hybrid Boost Controller. also gonna place the order tomorrow for a stage 2 scooby ecu, and then after that i should notice a fair difference hopefully, after that ill go for a sti intercooler and then... im not sure.. cause being a student and being forced to go out drinking so much...

soz to jump in here but im waiting for my Z4 Ecu to to be dun by scott taylor and i wud like to know if any1 any idea what bhp/torque i mite be looking at?
I will have 15.5psi scoobyecu
K&N Induction kit
Blitz No.7 race plugs
HKS downpipe
Jap decat system - called 'dunk megaphone' never heard of it!
but am getting a Blitz NUR r spec system at crimbo
so no cats in site now or in future apart from MOT time!
If any1 can shed some light it will be appreciated!
Thanks

Tim, looks like my car is similar spec to yours, which made 273/236. However, my car is pretty slow to spool up (doesn't make 1 bar until 3800rpm in 4th) so if yours spools quicker it should make more.
Also, the dyno operator was backing off over 5000rpm as he thought he heard det once on the warm up run (it's never audibly detted on the road, Knocklink is on my Xmas list). His exact words were: "there's loads more to come"
