Question

Is anyone out there running an Sti V with a Possum Link with the defualt map? Is it any good or is some adjusting necessary for eqivalent performance (compared to standard ECU)?

Cheers

Dave

The STi 5 will not run well with a standard map. The standard map would be for a MY99 WRX (Australian spec)./

Please corect me if I misunderstand this.

In the interests of fairness I would like to publish an amendment

The manual on the MRT site is slightly different to the scoobylink one - it has a little more info on tuning the damn thing.

Mike - going tomorrow to see how the new toy behaves ?

Notwithstanding the 'extensive research' stated in the Series 5 manual, the default map (which by the way is different for the WRX as an Australian equivalent to the UK/Europe models and the STi5) will do not much more but start the engine nicely and let you drive around in a manner very similar to the standard ecu settings. The default program is a very safe and foolproof arrangement in order to provide people with something to start working from.

So,will it work? Yes, it will (it all does to some extent). Is it what you want? Far from it. I wouldn't, however, worry too much about this. The way things are seemingly shaping up, UK Impreza community will be flooded with cars using the Possums within the next few weeks/months and we should see a number of capable programmers looking for a job due to the 'oversupply of human resources'.

Have fun.

I will now second the motion that the std map supplied is equivalent in performance terms to the original ECU. Fact.
Does some interesting things with the boost though..like holding it at exactly 10psi until 3200ish
