Just went for a burn quickly having not driven my car for some time and heard an odd noise that I am hoping someone can identify.

Sounds like running water coming from behind the instrument cluster. Thought it might be heater related but I have heard it many times on long journeys without the heater ever being switched on or moved in any way.

It seemed more prominent today than before which is why I am seeking help.

Doesn't seem to be throttle related, but when I changed down from fourth to third and then second, the noise seemed to fade away.

Sorry I cant be more specific but I am unfamiliar with the exact workings of this engine and cannot guess what it might be.

Please help.

I also have heard the same noise from my MY97. I think it is the water running around the engine, I say this because you only hear it while the engine is warming up. After that your having to much fun on the JOY pedal.....

Please correct me is this isn't the case.

I must admit, I had had a fairly lengthy blat and it was still going on. When I noticed it, I backed off and listened, but the car was definitely already warm.

Is it possible that yours does it when warm aswell but you are too busy enjoying the drive to notice?

I really hope someone has some answers on this one.

Cool

Howdy..

It does sound like the heater..

Have you checked your water level ? Dont bother with the plastic level bottle by the battery.. its pooh..

check the reservoir (but check when cold - incase it spirts out everywhere).

I have often heard it after draining the coolant.... and refilling.. it can take quite a while for the water to circulate around..you can sometimes have air locks (I know I've had them)

Anyways.. I need booze...

tara
