Question

When cold, the oil level in my MY99 is upto the notch, way above the Full mark. The car has only done 90 miles, but I'm worried that damage may occur.

Before I contact my dealer, does anybody have any advice?

gearbox or engine?

Gearbox oil overfilling is not as serious excessive engine oil, you'd better get the dealer to drain the necessary amount of oil. It will damage the engine.

Cool

Have it done ASAP. Too much oil can clog a lot of components not least the wastegate solenoid which can cause the car to think it is overboosting and shut off.

No real dramas if you don't thrash it but the longer you leave it the more things will get gunky!!

Yes, overfilled engine oil's bad for engine...conrod can bend, crankshaft subjected to twisting force n all...things can get very nasty. have it drained or replaced together wif yr oil filter coz chips n dirt are already caught in there.

Cool

Howdy..

Gearbox over filling isnt too bad...allt he excess will just poor out over your drive..

The engine is the problem.... oil can get into the intake system, oil blocks can form, etc...

Drain some out.. ideally do a complete refill...just incase its contaminated...

Thanks for the replies.

I've had the excess engine oil drained off. Dealer didn't seem too concerned, so hopefully will be OK.
