Having just picked up my new car (Sti5 Type R) I'm looking at upgrading the centre section only to get rid of the cats without increasing the noise level too much.

Can anyone give me any suggestions as to which one to go for?

Thanks
SS23.

AFAIK but if you remove the cats you will get a slightly louder exhaust note depending on your back box of course! If its a standard then i cant see it being anything out of the ordinery volume wise, just bit deeper i reckon.
I have a HKS d/pipe and straight onto a jap system with no cat but it is still quite quiet because i have found that they installed an extra expansion chamber near the rear, before the back box to help quiet the sound. So sod that! im saving for a blitz system and a 3" 2nd decat pipe to connect the blitz to me HKS 3" d/pipe now that will be loud!!!!!!
You will notice that the car is also a bit more responsive too!
Hope this helps!

STi 5 doesn;t have a cat in the centre section..

there is only one cat in the downpipe..

You could change this and the noise increase if you wrapped the pipe with exhaust wrap would be not too much.

Need to watch issues with fueling though being an import.

You might be better going for a ECUTek 3

I have a wrx ver 5. Centre section is just a resonator. Replaced it with a straight through magnex piece for 60 quid.
