MCGARY,

There should be no problem running the P1 with a de-cat althought they have been known to run lean. I am about to do this to my P1 and then get a re-map. Where about in Scotland are you?

Check out the UKs P1 owners club BBS HERE to speak to other P1 owners who have de-catted.

Cheers,
Kev

I have just traded in my sti 5 for a p1. I have a full de-cat scoobysport exhaust and i was wondering if it is ok to fit this to a p1? Is there any tuning or remapping or is it ok with a knock link and lambda link? Cheers Gary

Wink

No just fit & forget.......

Though of course there are benefits from having maps done, err like lots more power.

I started a thread about this awhile ago and it seems that most people who replied felt it was critical for safety reasons to avoid pre-detonation. That being said, I am not aware of any re-mapped de-catted P1s that have blown up (which is not the same as saying there aren't any!).

At the moment I am running my P1 without an ECUTEK re-map, but plan to fit a Knocklink for psychological reasons (since I am not convinced that an aftermarket fitting of a Knocklink can accurately detect detting).

To be honest, I would take loads of advice on this before proceeding!

IMO its abit of a lottery with a P1, same as it is with an STI V5, some det, some dont, some 'spike', some dont. Simple as that!

Just make sure you run optimax and booster would be a bonus the higher octane the better.

Dont put crap fuel in it i.e tesco`s or sainsburys.

I had no problem running my p1 with no cats.

MCGARY,
My P1 has just reached the end of its 3 year warranty so it's standard at the moment (apart from a few cosmetic changes). Thats about to change soon though and de-catting and fitting a NUR Spec R system on Friday. I will then be getting it re-mapped by Wallace performance in Aberdeen who have just opened yesterday.
A few other mods are in the pipeline as well.

Whoosh. Did you get a price from Wallace performance for the remap? Where about are they in aberdeen? I bought a knocklink and lamda link a while back for the sti but never got around to fitting them. I spoke to wuz and was supposed to give him a call as he was going to fit them as there is nobody up here in North of inverness or inverness who can install them. I think i will fit them to the p1 when i de-catit. I was planning a different backbox myself as the scoobysport is not that loud compared to other brands or maybe i should remove the magnex with resonator for a straight through? Cheers and all the best Gary

I took the extra precaution of fitting an upgraded fuel pump (can't remember which model) to my de-catted P1 with a Scoobysport Group N back box. The only other mod is an ITG panel filter (well that and a set of Hi-Spec 6-pot calipers and big grooved front disks ... ).
