My Sti II Wagon uses no oil between services at all. Only time I've had to add was after I did a track day at Castle Combe involving 90 laps of very hard driving throughout the day. Used 1 1/2 tanks of fuel. Then I had to add 0.1 litre which I thought was fair enough.

Question

I have recently bought a 93 WRX which was fully serviced before i took delivery.

My question is how much oil does a WRX use.

I recently checked my oil level and found that it needed 3/4 litre after 3000 miles.

I checked with the supplying dealer and they said this was normal.

I bought my STi new and have used about 1.5-2 litres in 10000 miles. I believe that Scoobs are known to use a lot of oil when new but then generally tighten up (the oil usage I mean).

Do you get any smoke on startup or on overrun?

Question

Tim,

Had you checked the level on a previous occasion to know that the level has actually reduced? The general understanding now is to only fill the oil up to half way between the upper and lower mark on the dip stick to prevent problems caused by oil mist fouling.

Thanks for your reply's, i must confess that i was not aware what the level was at the start, but i haven't notice any smoking and the level does not appear to have dropped recently

maybe the dealer failed to fill correctly
