I recently drove an STi4 with an HKS exhaust system which sounded tremendous. The downside was that it triggered the alarms of parked cars as you passed! The car is based in West Yorkshire and would be available for a test run if you're interested.

Hi there,

The HKS exhaust are excellent quality and sound great (loud).

It just so happens I have one for sale. The mid and back box are a few months old, the downpipe is brand new.

Is the HKS really that loud? Is it louder than the Scoobysport back box? I am jut about to have the HKS Hiper backbox and pipe all the way to the cat installed as well as some other bits under the bonnet. Officially, HKS Hiper is dsecribed as 'approaching the louder UK exhausts' in its level in dB. I wouldn't mind improvements, but definitely do not want obscene noise at sensible engine speed. Comments, please before it is too late. Thanks.

No.. its not that load...

Its a different note thats all...Every exhaust has a different note..Its hard to explain. Again it will vary between model (93,96,97, etc)

Its best to listen to one first :-)

Its a bit noisier with the down pipe fitted though...over the limit :-)
