Urgent STIV Engine code
#1
hello i am the person that was selling the car, i have changed my user name and wont be nameing names as i dont want to harm any legal action i may have to take against the dealer that sold me the car 8 months ago. so please bare this inmind when/if you reply to this thread, thanks.
currymonster bought this situation to my attention earlier today when he was running checks on the car prior to purchase. i have checked all the numbers under the bonnet and it is showing as a wrx, model code is gc8f48d. the car was brought off a company that has a good reputation among the subaru community and i also know the owner quite well, this is why (foolishly) the only checks i carried out before parting with my money was a car data check that came back clear.
Does anyone have any advice as to where i stand legally? the purchase receipt i have states the car is an sti so hopefully i
will have some sort of comeback.
i will be contacting the dealer and getting some legal advice tomorrow so fingers crossed
would just like to add that i hope you find the right car soon cal, i know how much you want one. just make sure that u check it better than i did because after being happy with it for the last 8 months i am now gutted and feeling very silly for trusting people

Thanks for that. Luckily my cousin has an STI V.and I managed to get hold of him. Engine number for an STI V is EJ207DW1PR. So the guys car is a WRX. He's not a happy bun and going to speak to the guys who supplied it to him.
Looks like the sales off
Thanks again,
cal

Hi C.monst,, u called me earlier about the engine #. Sorry i did'nt get back to you but got delayed getting home. See you've found the answer now anyway, I know you said that you were concious on the fuel economy aspect of owning the car but If you can stretch to the budget on mine, you won't regret it. It is without a doubt the best on it's class and a regrettable sale but for a genuine reason (moving onto a P1).
There's also nothing like having a 2-door.
Good luck and keep in mind that you can never be too carefull when doing your checks!!

Have had a silly thought but if your supplier would take back your car and give you another equivalent but proper STI V or VI I'd be interested in that? Maybe a way to avoid the lawyers! Just a thought, good luck mate, Cal
