Question

Whats the best method to clean the cylinder head. Ready to replace heads tonight but need to clean them up. Any suggestions ?

scouring pad?

Depends on condition really.. cant advise if I dont know!!

I have used a Random orbit D/A sander in the past!

I cleaned mine with a scraper, then wire wool and then an oil stone, very old fashioned!

Coming along nicely Derek, we usualy use a sharp stanley blade for scraping and then a quick rub with some scotchbrite, if the scotchbrite doesn't do the trick then some VERY fine wet and dry wrapped round something flat (engineers parallel is good if you have one) How are the rod's, have you plastigauged them to see what the fit is like on your crank?

We used kerosine and some fine emery cloth. Heads are now clean and looking damn good
