has anyone fitted one and what was the price?

was in getting some spares today and got a price of £250+vat .

I was not served by the usual people , so perhaps the old fart did not give me the trade price, he also seemed off when I asked if they listed a different one for the P1/sti5/6. he mentioned they do not really do blue print anymore.

I have another outlet that I use too , which I know stock blue print parts but if that price seems about right, I would rather go for a AP. the last cheapy clutch kit I picked up was about £100 all in IIRC so I thought the blue print would be closer to £150.

If you're after a clutch, you can't go wrong with the £82 Borg & Beck unit from Autospares.

Blue print are a proper jap clutch, and you will find that it is more than likely a Daikin anyway ( same as OE )
Does sound a bit pricey though.

Blue print are a proper jap clutch
Please describe exactly what a "proper Jap clutch" is. These "Blueprint" branded clutches aren't guaranteed to be made in Japan, if that's what you mean. Blueprint is just a trading name of Automotive Distributors Limited.

Either way, £250 is well OTT for an OE spec clutch when the B&B unit (which works great and includes a release bearing) is less than a third of the price.

I fitted a blue print clutch to an MY96 - no problems in 15k and was a Daiken clutch in the Blue Print box - same as the one I replaced (after 90K!). Cost £160 + vat so £250 seems high. Hope this helps.

thanks,

going into the other place today so will see what they quote.

the standard clutch that is in , was slipping at high boost but now that boost is cut down , to sensible levels , the clutch is holding fine again.

got a feeling the box is about to die so would do the clutch when replacing.

other place quoted £224.65+vat for the kit

they also gave me prices as separates of £100+vat for the disc and £107+ for the cover. tempted to just do an andyf and throw the disc under my standard cover but I am sure he got a disc only for less from a dealer. they did not list a disc for the P1 but the cover is the same , between P1 and later UK.

out of interest I got a price for the cheapy brand I have fitted to a few other cars. this came in a box marked Delphi or something and looked identical to the standard clutches coming out the cars. same markings etc and the full kit was £86.04+.

just to add that the cheaper unit was a 225mm plate when I am sure the later UK's/P1's use a 230mm.

is the Borg & Beck unit 230mm?

i am running the blueprint clutch, with the recent hike in torque i expected it to give up quickly so got my hands on a AP-RACING one.

so far the blueprint has handled it with no slip at all!

Question

am I right in thinking the earlier cars have a 225mm disc?.

I usually get a decent prices , from the second place especially but when I see quotes of £150 I am wondering if these are different kits from what I priced.
