Question

Just changed the cambelt on my MY97 Turbo and had to change the tensioner as it was leaking.I was wondering if the tensioners were servicable as it looks like like there is only a small seal to replace. The bearing on the pulley is fine. Had to buy new one from Subaru @ £112. Any suggestions?

You can take them apart, but dont know to anyone who actually does any spares for the internal side of them. Dont think I would like to take the risk of a repaired one, just in case it fails and the belt flails off under load...

I see your point about one failing, but if you had one repaired properly it would be a damn site cheaper. It seems mad to throw it away for the sake of a small rubber seal.
