I just installed the SECS unit yesterday and it is giving me readings for oil temp and pressure, the alarms are even going off here and there. The thing is, I don't have any sensors and as I understand it the ECU does not read these items either. When I turn off the car it reads 47psi no matter what, never goes lower. During driving it will go up to 51-53psi. The temp gauge I believe hangs in the the 190's. I don't understand why this would give readings unless the UK STi8 is different than other Subarus. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance. (Also the shift light never turns on, but that's a different issue.)

The unit has some default type values which are always there, I have one and see similar except that alarms are disabled. The shift light that comes with the car is programmable/settable from the cluster, the left hand small **** on the lower area is used for this, how to do it is in the owners manual, if you are referring to the SECS shift light feature than you have to connect the unit up to a dash mounted buld of some sort otherwise its just an output from the unit doing nothing.

Exactly the same on my SECS in my MY01 WRX. As stated above I think they are just default readings.

However they never change on my unit!

As Bob says, the Oil Pressure and Temp will show default figures on data page 5, you can replace these readings with other data as detailed in the user manual, if you don't have the sensors fitted.

garface, do you have a problem with one of our shift/warning lights? if so drop me a mail - simonj@psi3.co.uk

Thank you, I will email you. And yes it is the defi-light that came with it. It doesn't light up at all ever, not when the selected RPM comes up, nor when the alarms go off. There is also no sound, but I don't know if it is actually supposed to make one. I sent you an email about buying a new SECS face on Tuesday, but have not heard back. Thank you.

Also, if the unit is not getting readings for the oil temp and pressure why are the numbers changing and alarms going off? Thanks again.
