Normal "regular" is 10W/40. Then you get options of :
Performance Oil, Semi Synthetic, Fully Synthetic. Your choice your option, but would not put anything thinner in, our UK climate does not require it. I won't list makes of oil, as its your pocket that dictates that. [Hoping that does not sound nasty, but simple economics].

I appreciate your advice.

The reason I ask is Im not having Subaru do my next service when its just an oil and filter change £150!!! no thanks. ( Sorry I know lots of you wil frown at this decision but the garage I know are people I know and very reputable).

However I said buy my own oil and try and find out what Subaru would use so there was no difference.

Cheers

Chris

From searching previous posts. The definitive guide is

Motul 300v 15/50
Castrol RS 10/60
Silkolene Pro S 10/50
Mobil 15/50

I think 5W/40 is the reccomended, but some complain this oil is too thin. Surely 15w would be too thick, so i think ill go with the 10W

Trying to get hold of any of these oils over the counter, is like trying to get a world cup final ticket.

Im in the same boat and dont want to stick rubbish in, so it looks like ill have to mail order it.
