Exclamation

Had this problem for a while now. Sometimes when I accelarate hard (say in 4th) boost would come on as normal at about 3k, then I would get what feels like a loss of boost and the accelaration slows (still going faster, just not at fast). You can really feel it, all most like pulling back.

I don't have a boost gauge so can't give you numbers, just what I feel and know is happening.

Any ideas what it could be?

ScoobyECU from who?

Without boost numbers the problem is almost impossible to diagnose.

ScoobyECU (or rather genuine 27C1028 chip) from Scott Taylor.

I think I'll try switching it back to the original chip for a while. I guess that will rule out (or in) a map issue.

Is there a sensor or something that should be cleaned that can cause this effect?

Can't comment.

But if you're hitting a higher boost, it may be pushing the (ageing) ignition too far, causing a misfire, in which case you're looking at new coil packs most probably.

If you're not actually getting much boost, then it could be a boost control issue.

Or Scott coud have blown a eprom with a slightly goofy rom file, it has been known.

There's not "feel" of miss-fire, just a lower level of boost/not as much "push in the back" (you see all the tech-speak I've put in there...).

I'll see what happens on the standard map.

Putting in the standard map will not tell you much. You need a boost gauge, even if you can borrow one to rig up temporarily.

I would also speak to Scott, as he whould really be the first port of call with issues relating to the map.

Thanks,

I'll see if I can set up a boost guage (anyone want to loan one...? ).. I'll mail Scott as well and see what he thinks.

Cheers

I had similar problem once and it was a problem with the fuel pump - quite dangerous for the engine. Check the fuel pressure.
