Just a quick one to check something... I recently fitted a new (Halfords L300) lambda sensor to a MY97 turbo due to the car becoming a bit unpleasant to drive in traffic (jerkiness), along with the fact that the original was over 6 years old and had covered 60k miles.

Now with the old one I would get - on my (Dawes) AFR meter - virtually no LEDs when cold, minimal LEDs while cruising (maybe red), red then amber then green then blue on WOT, and if I took my foot off the throttle when cruising it would cycle up to the blue LED and back down again once. At idle the red LED occasionally flickered.

With the new lambda I am noticing A LOT more activity on the AFR meter. Straight away from cold I get a blue light which comes on if I just touch the throttle, while cruising it is constantly up and down like something out of Knightrider , still get the blue on WOT as before, but on idle the LEDs are up and down like a ****** drawers!

Can anyone interpret/explain this? Good / bad / nothing to worry about?

J
PS car seems a lot smoother since changing the sensor, although did an earth mod at the same time.

Haven't really managed to check fuel economy yet but it would 'appear' to be better. Managed to get 50 miles from £6 the other day (don't ask!)

Yep, sounds about right mate...

The 'up and down' scaling is right - off boost (ECU/lambda controlled fuelling) you will get High AFR readings on cold start too..
