Sequential shift gearbox
#1
I've been mulling over the idea of installing a sequential shift box in my RWD monster but I really don't know enough about the subject to judge the potential downfalls.
I have concerns that rapid shifts will have a damaging effect on the engine. A normal (clutch) gearchange has engine revs dropping as the cluch is disengaged and relatively gently rising again as the clutch is re-engaged. With a sequential shift box, the engine revs dropping and rising is either not going to happen or will be incredibly abrupt. I can deal with all the engineering involved in such a conversion but would appreciate some opinions on my concerns.

Two rules of thought.
1/ you either let the engine take the full on/full off load of a gear shift. as to longetivity of the engine --See WRC cars and how often they replace engine units, let alone gearboxes.
2/ you electronically "cut" the engine as the shift is moved thus allowing the change to go through smoother.
