hello all ..

the car is sti 7 my02 i fitted a Magnex 6x4 Oval system + the downpipe when i got chance to drive later on i noticed the boost hit 18 psi and fall back to 13.5 psi .. i know the standard boost is 14 psi so can you guys tell me what is wrong ? i also hear a whistle which is the dump valve i guess but shall i be able to hear it that clear after fitting the exhaust ? there is a very low continuous sound sounds like quite air flow ..

i appreciate all your help ...

Peak boost is 1.18 bar dropping to 0.81 bar at red line, considering you are decat then what you see is about right.

Revolt,

You might want to ask the question whether the car needs remapping if yours is a fully decatted system. There's enough threads on here to give you a good pointer as to what might be the key issues here.

Take it easy on the pedal until you are fully informed.

Cheers

WB

You could run the extra boost and get away with it but the ecu would probably knock itself down. You do need to get the fueling checked out if you consider that.

A remap is the best way to go and the safest. Boost controllers do nothing for fueling and if you are running towards leaner then you could have problems. Bear in mind the tight cylinder to piston clearance these cars have.

You didn't say where you are .. please tell.

An ecu reset will make no difference as the ecu will just have to learn all over again.

Dependant on your fueling, ambient temperature/charge temp and fuel quality you "might" get away with it but you will need to check out your fueling to be safe and sure, also suggest getting a Knock display of some sort.

You could also consider doing a mail order remap. E.g. Scoobysport - less power than a customised one, but still a lot better than stock and takes advantage of the improved spool up etct from a downpipe.

(I did so from New Zealand to UK - no problems - just meant that the car was without-ECU for a week or so).

Scoobysport charge around 650 GBP plus shipping. Check out their website at www.scoobysport.co.uk - they have a pricelist there.

Not sure I understand... if you are talking about a Knocklink, I wouldn't expect any indication of knock at idle.

Knock is most likely around 3500-4000 rpm on these cars I think based on the posts I have read.
