I need some help/suggestions please. I'm looking to do an engine swap from a wrx to a sti ver7 or ver8. Where I live we don't have 2.0L sti motors. I need to know if there is really much difference in these two motors. I heard one major difference is the turbo on a ver8 is a twin scroll. I'm mostly interested in knowing what the bottom end is like on the two motors.

thanks in advance,

joe

Hi,

Well I have a STi8 and it is not a twinscroll turbo in that car but the Spec 'C' version of the STi8 has a twinscroll I belive and also the US-spec STi8!

thanks guys, I know about the 2.5 USDM sti. I had a test drive yesterday and holy sh#$ was it ever powerful, all throughout the rev range too. Locating a USDM motor and tranny will be expensive as I likely will need to buy it new. I was leaning towards the USDM motor because I figure it was stronger down low. I cannot confirm this as I don't have a Japanese motor to test. Verison 7 motors are far cheaper than the twin scroll version 8 from Japan. I'm just not sure if there is much difference in the lower range between the 3 different motors.
