Ive got a serious rattle on my up-pipe heatshield and after checking it have found that its not actually attached to the clamps any more(poss rusted away or come loose) any way it is very annoying and id like some advice as to how to take it off and if there is going to be any damage to the engine afterwards due to any heat affects.

Cheers

You could take the shield off and heat wrap the pipe..

I think people have run up pipes (after-market ones) without wrap or shields..

If you have to take it out to get the shield off or wrap it then you might as well replace it with an after market one.

It's not a nice job though..

You could put a jubliee click around the heat shield to resecure it, which would be my option until I had chance to get in there properly.

can be re attatched with jubilee clips, been there on a few cars previously, much better to retain the sheilding also, as it can create too much heat on the o/s f the engine bay which wont help the brake master cylinder fluid.
