Hi Peeps,

I've been noticing a little whine on my car as I power it up through the gears so I did a bit of testing. Holding the speed constant at 3100, 4100, 5100 revs in most gears (3,4,5,6) there is an audible, and rather sickening whine from my car. If I accelerate slightly, say another 100/200 rpm the noise stops. I dont know if its resonance(sp?) or something is a bit dodgy, but I was wondering is someone else could try it out?

My bro has the exact same model car as me, except for a PPP kit, so I cant really tell with the different exhaust note.

To test it, just sit in a reasonable gear at 100rpm above a major unit, ie 3.1k, 4.1k, 5.1k 6.1k etc.

Thanks in advance,

~Jules

Have noticed this on a few motors of late but Subaru Uk tend to put it down to gear meshing whine and should "settle in". But why do some "do it" and others "dont" would be my question too. I think it does become more pronounced on units fitted with either PPP or alternative exhaust systems as the resonances are different to those set up when in standard trim.
