Is there any proceedure to follow when changing one ECU for another (both subuaru ones btw)? Is it simply a case of swapping them with the ignition off?

Kenny's selling his JB Tek2.5 ECU, so I'm sure the potential buyer will have a MY99/00 car too.
Kenny,
Did this loads of times with JB. Just 5min to swap them over and follow the ECU reset instructions off the MRT website.
Piece of pi$$ m8,
Stefan

Saxo, not sure if you have to reset after the ECU's power has been disconnected or not, but have look at this for the procedure and fault codes ECU diagnostics
You wont **** it up mate, I’ve just done it and it really is very straight forward – you know its done when the ‘Check Engine Light’ flashes when your driving (after about 3 or 4 mins driving).
All the best......Carl.

Surely if the ECU is disconnected from the power then it will reset its self

yeah!
the ECU that you are fitting will have been sitting around
somewhere, possibly for days - it wont know where it is!
What it will have to do is 'learn' - wot fuel you are using, how you drive etc. When I did mine, I just did a straight swop, and drove normally
