Is there any proceedure to follow when changing one ECU for another (both subuaru ones btw)? Is it simply a case of swapping them with the ignition off?
|
I believe that is all you have to do.
|
Carry out an ECU reset after fitment and let it learn the *new* car.
Alan ;cool: |
Take it the ECU's you're swapping are compatible with each other in the first place? If so, swap and reset are all you need to do.

Kenny's selling his JB Tek2.5 ECU, so I'm sure the potential buyer will have a MY99/00 car too.
Kenny, Did this loads of times with JB. Just 5min to swap them over and follow the ECU reset instructions off the MRT website. Piece of pi$$ m8, Stefan |
Do you have to reset the ecu?? It seems like the sort of complicated proceedure I'd feck up
|
Surely if the ECU is disconnected from the power then it will reset its self
|
Saxo, not sure if you have to reset after the ECU's power has been disconnected or not, but have look at this for the procedure and fault codes ECU diagnostics
You wont feck it up mate, I’ve just done it and it really is very straight forward – you know its done when the ‘Check Engine Light’ flashes when your driving (after about 3 or 4 mins driving). All the best......Carl. |

yeah!
the ECU that you are fitting will have been sitting around somewhere, possibly for days - it wont know where it is! What it will have to do is 'learn' - wot fuel you are using, how you drive etc. When I did mine, I just did a straight swop, and drove normally ;) alan |
5 mins unplugged or probably far less will reset an ECU.
|
Figured as much, cheers John :)
I see what you mean about 2-port boost control or rather lack of! 0.7 bar one minute then 0.9 the next - nowhere near as stable....or fast :( |
