Hi Gents, just found this forum and its very good.
My problem is that on my `99 uk spec impreza turbo it accelerates fine upto 4000rpm in every gear but then hits a flat spot where the car `fluffs and splutters` if you keep it nailed then it will slowly pull through this but it is still not right. If you back off under 4000rpm it runs fine. I have changed the plugs looked for leaks around the induction side but I am now thinking along the lines of lambada sensor?,coil pack?,wastegate actuator?. Any other ideas will be greatly appreciated.
Oh yes does anyone know how to check a lambada sensor i.e what readings should it give............Many thanks

Hi there. Had the same 'flat spot' in my RB @4000 rpm, but only in 4th. Main dealer traced the fault to the 'pressure sensor' whatever that may be. They fixed that - the problem went away but I was left with a very lumpy tickover which further turned out to be a faulty lambda sensor.
Lambda sensor way more expensive than MAF sensor from a main dealer but you can get cheaper generic ones from specialist Scoob garages.

Hope you get yours sorted.

PS: Look up the RB5 owners club (I'm guessing that's your car from your username).

Thanks for the suggestions chaps, haven`t had chance to look at the car this weekend what with the rally supercar day at Comb on saturday, the Abbey Stages near Aberystwyth on sunday oh yes and I`m trying to build a new house as well.
I think that I`ll try the turbo boost pipes first (make sure that they are all clean) read that they could restrict the flow and take the boost up over the 1.20 bar limit therfore cutting fuel supply. Then lambada sensor?.............By the way Blobster havn`t got a RB5, mines a standard Mica blue `99 turbo can be seen most mornings on the M4 Bridgend to Cardiffat about 05.30ish the name comes from my occupation ( I build rolls royce rb211 aircraft engines) but yours was a good educated guess..Speak to you all soon when I find the cause...............
