YES.

A further point to note is that at the recent dyno day at G-Force covered by Banzai a few months ago, the top 4 cars ALL have these pullies.

Biggest difference you notice is in response (which is physically noticeable) but apparently they can actually give gains of 5-10bhp, or so I've read. Whether that is true or not, I can't say.

Cheers

Rich

The crank pulley contains a harmonic balancer. If you replace it with a lightweight unit that doesn't include a balancer, then you will be subjecting the engine internals to more vibration and proably incresed wear. But they do look shiney, dont they!

lightening anything that rotates should give you a theoretical increase in power but it will be small

Have heard that standard diameter are the ones to go for, rather than undersized - any recommendations on a supplier?

interesting point here..

All the top cars at the rolling road day used them..

Only one car there could be called a top car.. which does run them iirc.

however dont believe andyf uses them or anyone else for that matter..

I dont.. for the same reason as moray stated.. and my engine was balanced with the crank pulley Ive fitted.

FWIW I have run lightened pulleys for 15mths and perhaps 25k mls.
Main pulley Original 2.5kg Replacement 400g
Intermediate 360 170
Small 165 65
3.025kg .635kg
Small = Alternator,Intermediate = P.S. Main = Crank.
Cannot say I noticed any difference that I could identify but "many a mickle maks a muckle" but like Morray says, they are pretty.
P.S. David: Which one am I? Top car or nobody else???

Not sure that any of the 350+ cars (yours included use them)
My car is over 350bhp, and I've been using them for about 15k's worth of miles without any problems at all.

"Only one car that could be called a top car uses them."
David was that a reference to me?
Mine came from Scoobymania or Jap Inovations, cannot remember which and are actually Go Faster Bits from Australia. They are smaller diameter.
Bob Rawle has a pretty set on his motor from Roger Clark Motor Sport and they are the same diameter as original.

Harvey, was referring to yours

I think the article certainly didnt do well to find the highest powered cars..

As I believe there are a handfull over 400 now (and were possibly then)

Should have worded my post better.. Just meant to say that pulleys wont add silly figures to your car IMHO.

But we are talking about crank pulley, P/S and alternator and not the cam pulley(s).
