Question

This question must have been asked hundreds of times so apologies.
I've got a standard MY98 UK car which I've had from new. I like the car but fancy some more power to re kindle my love.
Was thinking about goin down the chippin' route. Been talking to a tuner in York who recommends the following combo...
Blitz pipe (cat back), Blitz induction kit and Blitz dump valve.
Is this good kit or is there better out there?
He reckons about £800 for the lot, fitted.
Is the above a better route to go than a chip?
What will the impact on my insurance be? (do they load per brake horse?)
Thanks for any advice/recommens

Cheers
Chris

Insurance - you'd have to ask your insurer - they're all different
Dump valve won't do anything except make a noise.
A Blitz centre/back-box won't do much either... change the downpipe too & that'll make a difference! It'll also mean you fail your MOT, which may not help

Typically, all that a chip can do is make the best of what you've got. There's no simple solution for the MY98 I think - PE do some sort of 'piggyback', then I presume the Unichip 'signal fiddler' would also work. But the best solution, bang for buck, is full exhaust system (Blitz is an expensive option - there are considerably cheaper for almost the same performance benefits but much reduced cost), and probably wop in a 'Dawes' (search the BBS & ye shall find ) along with a boost guage & KnockLink - always good ideas anyway!

Whats a 'Dawes'? Where is 'BBS'

If you have a full exhaust fitted do you have to swap back every MOT?
surely if it's not legal for the MOT its gonna invalidate any insurance anyway???

Not much point in changing the manegement until you get the exhaust and filter changed anyway. Go down the first route and then if you decide to remap in the future, you will benefit far more.

btw, not much point in changing the DV unless yours is weak of you are going to considerably increase boost (or you like the whoosing noise reminisent of RS turbos and R5GT's)
