Im picking up my STI 5 TYPE R in about 2 weeks when i drove it I couldnt belive how much faster it was than my WRX. It has A HKS air filter A full exhaust system and the manafold is heat wraped
it also has a HKS boost controler. What boost can i run safely and
what sort of power will it produce. I think it should be around
310 - 320 bhp

doubt it will be 320bhp now. If your running OB, probably closer to 300bhp

going off memory and what John B has said before, with a custom map and the mods you have, the boost will be safely increased to about 19psi (about 3-4psi over std)

After this mod, you will probably be looking around 320/330bhp, but you will see a decent rise in tourqe which will transform the car.

At Power Engineering it probably would read that, but standard cars also read considerably over standard there as well. Use Optimax and NF octane booster and get a knocklink before doing anything to it.

The stock ECU will stop the party at 19.6 PSI, but if you do this with your present mods without knock monitoring a new engine will probably follow soon afterwards.

Hi Higgs,

One of the raesons it may feel much quicker than your WRX is the gearing.

Type Rs have closer ratios and a 4.44 as opposed to a 4.11 diff.

I agree..........its still likely to be closer to high 200's rather than low 300's

Standard figs are 276bhp/260lbft on 100RON, so over here most read a genuine 260-270hp but drop the torque to around 240/250

Get wheel hp up to around 250 and torque up to 300 and you'll have a true beast.
