Thumbs down

I have had a bit of trouble on the way home after driving tonight. nice run around derbyshire and cheshire, not too fast, nice and steady, then after Whaley bridge turn off, I noticed a vibration in the car, and a drop in power. Almost like the turbo wasn’t working as well as it should. I didn’t really get a chance to open her up, but it just didn’t feel as powerful as before.

When I did finally get home, and stopped in front of the garage, I got out, and straight away noticed a loud clicking noise, in time with the engine revs, just to the bottom front left hand side of the engine bay!

The engine was ticking over fine, but the car was vibrating quite a bit.

Any ideas?
I will have to take it to pro sport in stockport tomorrow, and it is overdue a service, so hopefully they will diagnose the problem there,
chris.

It sounds like big end failure. I would not drive it to your dealer as it could throw a rod through the block, making the repair much more expesive.

oops, sorry to dissapoint you pete, but turned out only to be a loose plug and the ignition lead had come off. I re-atached the lead, and the workshop tightened the plug.
All is hunky dorey now,
glad is wasn't what you diagnosed by the way!

Nice one Chris.

How on earth did the plug come loose though? They should be set to a specific torque (finger tight then 3/4 turn to compress the gasket) and never come loose.
