Just wanted to ask for a bit of advice before i take my 2001 New Age WRX back to the dealer..

just been out in the north yorks moors having a good run but acceleration dosnt feel smooth !

my other half in the passenger seat said she couldnt notice but i find that on half or even full throttle even tho it pulls very well i can feel a slight hesitation as the revs rise.. is this a common problem or do i really need to take it back where i got it from..

Car is UK run on Optimax with no mods (as far as i know) except a forge VTA D/V and Magnex Box

Wink

In order of preference though best to get it checked out it may be:

Maf
Boost control solenoid
Idle speed control valve
Coil Packs
Spark plugs
A bad tank of fuel (it does happen)

All easily sorted........

My 01 uk300 has a similar problem. I have changed most commom parts myself but the fault is still there.
Today i took the car back to the main dealers and they are getting me a new ECU for satarday. They said that the ECU is not mapping properly and that this is a commom fault.
Hope this helps..

Might be the heat is just making the ECU retard a lot, which would make the car feel as though it's 'holding back'. Also, the over-fueling which is normal (for safety) will be even more acute at the moment as the air is thinner.
Or the last tank of fuel was pants, again retarding the ignition.

Wait until 3 in the morning & have another go & it may well be running better

what is 3 in the morning???

oh think i vaguely remember something like that when i was in my 20's

its still got 12mths of subaru warranty left so mabe i'll try it and if its not any different then it'll have to go back

i also noticed that when i start it from cold theres a knocking/ticking sound from thr front right hand corner.. seems to be at the left side of the battery but lower down behind the black casing (sorry for bad description) and i'm not sure if this is normal.. like i said i've only been fortunate enough to own it for just over a week
