Unhappy

Hi all,

I'm having a problem with my STi V Type-R.

Clutch pump is loosing pressure and it seems that the solution will be a new main pump. As far as I could understand there’s one main and a smaller pump. I’m thinking about getting both new.

Question is, does anyone know the references and where could I get them from? I’ll be buying them from/to Portugal, any help is welcome.

Cheers,
RNunes

Ok, I´ll put it down to a more simple question ;-)

Does anyone know if the clutch pumps for a STi V Type-R are the same as for the my99?

Desperate thanks for any reply,

You mean the hydraulic servo thing? I assume it's the same.

the correct terms are

clutch master cylinder (the part mounted to the bulkhead that is connected to the pedal)
clutch slave cylinder (the part mounted on the gearbox connected to the clutch fork)

There are a lot of diferent setups used, you are best talking to a parts person or subaru specialist to get the correct part for your car. Are you sure you have faulty units, it may just need the fluid replacing and bleeding?

Hi,

Thanks to both of you for your help.

It's hard to get the right terms when you're Portuguese and not an engine's wizard

This all started when my clutch pedal got stuck the other Sunday. After pumping it I finally managed to release the pedal and drove home quietly and from there to the garage.

The first thing they noticed was that the fluid deposit cover was missing (have no clue how). Water (mostly from the intercooler water-spray) got into the deposit and mixed with the fluid.

First they checked that there was no water corrosion in the circuit and replaced the fluid... but the problem was still there.

They had to disassemble the transmission to check what else could be wrong. Clutch disk was almost gone so it was replaced (not to fix the problem but to avoid having to disassemble everything again in a couple of weeks).

Clutch plate was found to be faulty and got replaced too. We thought that was it but the problem is still there (and even worse). Pedal has no feel at all :-(

Not much left... so now we (they) are thinking about the clutch master and slave cylinder (hey, got it right this time )

Since this model is so unique here (so far only heard of mine and a version 4) I find it very hard to find info about it. Even at Subaru parts they seem to be a bit lost whenever I mention the model.

If you find something else I should look for...

Cheers,
RNunes
