Do you have a boost gauge fitted? .... you will need one to set the Dawes .... other than that no, you can just fit them and away you go.
Not sure if you need to run different plugs though with a Dawes, might be wise as the boost will be higher.
Hopefully someone can give you advice on that. I run HKS iridiums but thats on a custom remap and full decat etc.

No a knocklink is only to give a visual warning of det/pinking/knocking .... it will not tell you what boost you are running.
I understand what you are saying though, slowly turn the Dawes up until you start to see an increase on the knocklink then back it off a bit.
Thats your choice of course but IMO its better to have a guage and the knocklink.

Buy a boost guage or get someone else to set it up for you.

Plug wise, NGK PFR6B's or NGK PFR7B's for raised boost
