Boost level on an STI V3: how much??????
#1
My engine is stock, has a magnex decat exhaust and that's it. It does have a Blitz boost controller set at 1.25 bar and has shown 314 bhp on the rollers.
I need more as the car is a hill climber!
How far dare I go in increasing boost? Last year I had the dreaded fuel-cut problem, the boost was measured at a full 1.6 bar! The car was raced in this form all last year and all was well except for the drama of the fuel cut at full chat.....(@ 4500 rpm). The motor runs realy well now but the opposition are at 340 bhp+++++++++++++++++++++
Can someone guide me please? Pwer Eng who did the Blitz say 1.25 absolute max.
Help! Graham.

Just increasing boost may not increase flow, check a compressor map if one is available, I cannot find a map for VF-23 which was standard on STi3

Madou, appreciate what you say, still know that this engine @ 1.6 bar gave a lot more urge, and fuel cut!
If I raised the boost to, say, 1,4 bar what might I expect in bhp/torque, but would I still avoid the fuel cut?
I suppose I should just inch up the boost until I get the fuel cut, and then back off a touch to be safe.
