Question

Is it possible to increase the boost for lower gears (apart from 3rd maybe) to be the same as higher gears? I've heard Mr Dunn sorted this once.

I've had the TEk3 done, with 1.3 bar in 1 and 2nd, and upto 1.5 bar in top. Would love 1.5 bar in 2nd (although the gearbox probably wont!).

I know with some of the more $$$ boost controllers (APEXI AVCR) you can also in some manner control boost per gear.

You can do the same with Ecutek, but I'm not sure if it's an "official" part of the remapping. Was done on my car with thanks to John Banks and works perfectly !

Will be a clutch/gearbox killer though.

Ok Evil. I expect to rebuild/replace with uprated clutch gearbox later down the line anyway, so maybe I'll wait till the funds are available. 3rd would be a bad gear for this I take it.

Is it true that not only do the gears need uprating, but the housing itself as the whole gearbox has flex in the walls?

An EBC will increase boost in lower gears but you wont get full boost in the lower gears as in the higher gears. Apexi AVCR will do a better job, but at a premium of a $500 US tag.

Not cheap then. I think I'll try the ?Tek3 route once I've done gearbox and clutch.

Cheers

Oh, just been told the boost option in lower gears works for 98 99 cars (or was that 99-00)...seems it's not needed with my car.

Although I'd love 1.45 bar in 2nd and 3rd instead of 1.3!!
