What about fitting small ventilators under the intercooler that blow away the heat when driving in traffic and stop-starts.....

I was thinking on PC-ventilators : they cost nothing and are small enough to fit under the intercooler...

I live on the South coast. Worth a try, but it would need a high airflow to make a difference.

PC fans not waterproof and don't run on 12V DC.

Closest are those oil cooler fans, or smallish aircon condensor fans.

Just tested my installation : PC fans are definitely 12V and are water proof in a small way....
The fans are installed in a way that the blade covers the whole "engine" part of the fan.

I went for a ride (it's now 30°C here) and then go right into town for stoplight traffic with my "fan project" on...

The side where the downpipe sits under the intercooler is now cooled with those fans and it stays definitely cooler than before..

Maybe I won a few bhp now....

You can find those fans by a computer shop, maybe they will give them for free from a broken PC....
As far as temp. measure : I will post them here after the weekend.
We go for 4 days to the Nurburgring and there I will test the whole setup.
Of course a FMIC is better but I'm not spending anymore cash in the car than needed because in a year from now I buy a new one (car)...
