gear box neutral switch - can it mess the idle speed
#1
Have had an ongoing problem with poor idle on an MY97 WRX and still not tracked it down.
MAF has been swapped but still causes problem, O2 sensor is new and helped a little, TPS has been adjusted and resistance from closed to WOT are within spec.
The symptoms are rapidly fluctuating idle (2 second cycle esp when hot) only between 550 rpm and 850 rpm. When 850 rpm is reached then the car sounds like it is about to stall, revs fall and idle recovers.
However, what I have noticed is that when I knock the gear from neutral into first then the idle dips and recovers.
Is this normal or another link to check?
Which of the two switches is it on the gearbox. I assume one is neutral and the other is reverse?
