Slight Whine on 2002 sti 7

Can anyone tell me whether its normal for a Sti 7 with 20k miles on the clock should make a whining sound in 1st and 2nd?
If i boot it say upto 4k and then let it roll it makes a noticable whine. I tried pressing the clutch in and the whining goes away, so i can only presume the gearbox is making the noise.
Please tell me this is normal?

Hi There
I also got "the whine" on my STi7 at about the same time, nothing to worry about , front LSD. I found it went away after track days or gymkhana's, seems the LSD likes to work a bit and whines if not used enough, I love these cars :-))) - so talk bacik to it and it will stop whinning!!!
